Company Spotlight: Bridgewood Cabinetry

When beginning a process as stressful (and expensive!) as remodeling or building new, it's important to understand all of your options. We've heard from a lot of homeowners that, unfortunately, often feel stuck. In our new Company Spotlight series, we will be featuring cabinet companies that can be an excellent option for your new home.

We're excited to tell you about Bridgewood Cabinetry. Known for their exquisite factory finishes (we saw them firsthand at KBIS and... WOW), this company truly embodies what a quality custom manufacturer looks like.

The Caldwell family has owned Bridgewood since its inception and, when talking with brothers Jay and Jeff, you can hear the pride in their voice.

Handmade in Kansas

If you have a local cabinetmaker that you choose to work with, and you're confident they're capable of creating what you want (here's how to see if you're working with a good one), then by all means go for it! If, however, that isn't the case, rest assured there are companies like Bridgewood that excel at their craft and can ship just about anywhere.

What is the biggest difference between a garage shop and a proper manufacturer like Bridgewood? It's important to acknowledge just how important a good process is when building cabinetry. Imagine if Chevrolet or Mercedes had to start from scratch on every car they built... having to figure out the upholstery, motor, brakes, a paint that can withstand years in the sun. Something would inevitably be missed or the wrong decision made, and cars would fail. The same very much applies to custom cabinetry. We want to work with a company that knows their product inside and out, has produced it for years, and can confidently offer a warranty because they know it will last.

From raw select lumber to the finished cabinet, everything is done under one roof. This ensures a level of quality control throughout the entire process.

The Convenience Of Standard Finishes

You may or may not have seen the many headaches homeowners have had in our Facebook group when working with under-qualified finishers (for whatever reason, finishing is a complete afterthought in most of my beloved industry when, in fact, it's often more difficult than building the actual cabinet!). This can be incredibly frustrating and rarely ends well. Working with a company that has tried-and-true standard finishes eliminates all of the guesswork when starting from zero each project. Below are just a few favorites, though their collection has many beautiful options to fit any design.

From walnut to white oak, Bridgewood specializes in American hardwoods.

This photo is showing the oven used to cure their finishes. An important step in creating cabinetry that withstand decades of use.

This is exactly what we want to see for final inspections! No surprises on delivery day. We want to know that our new cabinetry has been completely looked-over and approved for consistent color, finish, has no defects, and that all of the hardware is operating as it should.

How To Buy

Bridgewood is sold through a select group of showrooms across the US. While we strongly encourage you to give them a look, if there isn't a showroom in your area, companies like Bridgewood set the standard for what proper custom cabinetry is. Please use them to gauge the quality of other companies and their process in your local market.
